1. This website collects interest only
This website can only be used to pay the interest on a pawn ticket in order to extend its term. Redeeming a pledge must be done at the counter by the pawner in person with the ticket, and cannot be done online. There is therefore no question of a refund of redemption money.
2. Interest paid in full, where the term has been extended, is not refundable
Once interest is paid in full, the term is extended immediately and your pledge immediately leaves the overdue and auction process. That service is complete at that moment and cannot be withdrawn, so an interest payment that has taken effect is not refunded.
This is the same as the practice at our counter: interest paid at the counter is likewise not returnable.
3. When we do refund
We will refund, after we have verified it, in these cases:
- A duplicate payment of the same interest on the same ticket
- The amount received was less than the interest due, the term was not extended, and you do not wish to pay the shortfall
- A payment that matches no ticket, for example where the ticket number was wrong
- Your bank charged you but we verify that the money was not actually received
4. Overpayment
If you pay more than the interest due, the term is still extended and we record the surplus as a credit for you, applied automatically to your next interest payment.
If you would rather have the surplus back than keep it as a credit, please bring your identity card to the counter and we will return it to you.
5. How to request a refund
Please contact us with the following:
- The pawn ticket number
- The date and time of payment
- The amount paid
- Your name and identity card number
You may come to the counter, or contact us by telephone or WhatsApp as shown at the foot of this page.
6. How long a refund takes
Once we have verified it, the money is returned through CHIP to the same account or card you paid from, normally within 7 working days of verification. When it reaches your account depends on your bank and may take a few working days more.
A refund can only be made to the original paying account. It cannot be made to somebody else's account and cannot be paid in cash. This is to prevent anyone from claiming a refund on another person's payment.
7. A confirmed payment cannot be cancelled
An online payment cannot be cancelled once the bank has confirmed it. If you have paid in error, please request a refund as set out above.
